About The Blumstein Family

This Website is devoted to the Ancestors, Descendants and Extended Families of Nathan Blumstein and his wife Esther Vishnick. Nathan and Esther were both born in the Warsaw/Lomza/Makow area of Poland about 1874, lived in England around 1900, and immigrated to California by 1906.

This tree at the moment is a slightly updated version of the Feldberg family tree we had at Rootsweb Worldconnect before Ancestry took our sites offline for updating security in December 2017. We are in the process now of revising software in order to be able to truly update this tree at tribalpages. Until we are able to do that, you may wish to also visit our most up to date trees at http://thecohens.theunixplace.com/trees/. There are many more people there, and we have split the families up into separate trees on that site for the Vishnick, Feldberg, and Grossman families. If you are not sure which of the three trees is the one you need to look at, use the FreeFind box at the bottom of every page on that site to find what you are looking for. That is probably easier than browsing the Name Indexes for each of the trees. thecohens.theunixplace.com

Then, if you think you may related to our Vishnick family but do not recognize any names here in our tree at TribalPages, or your surname is similar to but slightly different from Vishnick, we recommend you visit our Vishnick, Wishnick, and related surnames project page, sometimes called "Our Family Name Means Cherry Brandy", at http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~thecohens/family/brandysurnames.html.

For more information about our Blumstein family history, you can check out the Blumstein Family Page at http//freepages.rootsweb.com/~thecohens/family/blumstein.html.

Our expanded family tree also has information about Esther Vishnick's extended family. You can read about the Vishnick, Barusch, and related families at http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~thecohens/family/vishnick.html and at http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~thecohens/family/mvishnick.html.

To get acquainted with this Family Tree site, I recommend starting with the Name Index. You can either click on this link, or get there by going to the Home page here and clicking on "Name Index". That will give you a list of the deceased relatives in the family tree, along with the names of their parents and spouses. If you want more information about a specific individual on the list, click on their name, and that will take you to a page showing their parents, spouse(s), and children.

Then, if you think we may be related, or have information you wish to see added or corrected, please do Contact us through this site, or via our Contact page at RootsWeb (url is above).

Sources are currently listed in the comments section on each individual. "ssdi" means Social Security Death Index, "cbi" means California Birth Index, and "cdi" means California Death Index If you need help deciphering my other abbreviations, please contact me.

Please note that on some occasions, the place of death given in a State Death Index differs from the address where last benefits were sent, as shown in the Social Security Death Index. In the absence of a State Death Index listing, the SSDI information has been used here, but the State Death Index records should be a more definitive source of actual place of death, as they are generally filed with the health department by the mortuaries.

Then, while the reports here are much nicer than at the other sites where we have our Vishnicks and extended family in online family trees, TribalPages is a bit more difficult to update. So, as mentioned above, you may wish to also visit our most up to date trees at http://thecohens.theunixplace.com/trees/, especially those for the Vishnick, Feldberg, and Grossman families. If you are not sure which of the three trees is the one you need to look at, use the FreeFind box at the bottom of every page on that site to find what you are looking for. That is probably easier than browsing the Name Indexes for each of the trees.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
